HISTORY

Beginnings
In 1977, Rev Rick Seaward, with wife Diane, felt instructed by God to start a church in Singapore. The church began with a newspaper ad inviting people to come and have their lives changed.

That first Sunday on 16 October 1977, 20 persons came, and 11 of them accepted Jesus as their Saviour. In 1978, when the church was only 4 months old, it embarked on its first missions venture – raising support for a church in Nepal. Subsequent to that, God called this church to make missions its major focus. Within a few short years, church attendance grew to over a few thousands.

Major Transitions
Throughout these more than 30 years, the church has undergone major transitions, crossed many milestones.

In 1989, the church underwent a defining moment as it regionalised into 6 regions, each led by an overseer, and each with its own regional services, while still functioning as one church.

In 1999, the church, then known as Calvary Charismatic Centre, changed its name to Victory Family Centre.

Over the years, we acquired land and built facilities in Tampines, Yishun, Choa Chu Kang, Sembawang, and Jurong West. These facilities enabled us to provide community services such as our Hope Kindergarten for the neighbourhood.

Becoming a Caring Community
We believe that God has been preparing us as a church for this next thrust to become a Caring Community to our nation and the nations beyond, to reach out to the needy in every sector of society and to holistically meet their needs, and through this, to see God bring transformation to our nation.

Present
Now VFC has approximately 6,000 members that meet in multiple locations around the city.
